Pridefest Denver is going to the dogs on Saturday, June 18 in Civic Center Park. Saturday has been designated “Bring Your Dog to Pridefest Day” and everyone is encouraged to bring their leashed dogs down for a day of canine fun.
The Dogs In Drag Contest, hosted by this year by comedy drag queen Nuclia Waste, will be the highlight of the day. Dog owners are encourage to dress up their dogs in their best doggie drag and compete for prizes and trophies. Prizes, sponsored by Petco, will be awarded to Best Dog In Drag, Best Dog Owner in Drag/Costume, Dog Owner That Looks Most Like Their Dog, Smallest Dog, and Biggest Dog. The contest will take place at noon on the Main Stage in the Greek Amphitheater, with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m. New this year will be a Pooch Pavilion providing free shade and water for dogs from 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Owners assume all responsibility for pets, so please make sure they’re friendly, have all their shots and are ready to enjoy a day at a busy park.
Pooch Pavilion Saturday Activities
11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Pooch Pavilion open. Photographer available for photos of dogs and their owners. Water and shade provided under the pavilion for any dogs and their owners.
11:30 a.m. – noon.: Dog Agility Demo – a demonstration of dogs performing agility tricks. To be held in marked off grassy area just north and west of the ampitheater.
noon – 12:30 p.m.: Registration For Dogs In Drag Contest – to be held in the Pet Pavilion, west side of amphitheater.
12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.: PETCO Dogs In Drag Contest
The contest will be hosted on the main stage by Nuclia Waste (the green-haired glamour girl pictured on the left). There will be three celebrity judges who will judge the contest using voting forms for each contestant. Contestants will receive a number to wear for judging. The contest will kick off with a three minute comedy drag performance by Nuclia Waste.
Click here to register for the PETCO Dogs in Drag Contest. There is a suggested donation of $5for the registration fee to enter the PETCO Dogs in Drag Contest, which will benefit The Center. Contestants may download the form in advance and bring their registration to the Pet Pavilion or they can register the day of on site. Payment can be made in checks or cash, with checks payable to “The Center”.
The contest will be limited to dogs only. Dogs will need to be on leashes at all times and vaccinated. Each person registering will receive a Doggie Treat Bag filled with dog treats and other swag.

A total of seven prizes and seven trophies will be given away. Prizes will be determined on what is donated from Petco and other pet product sponsors. Trophies will be made and donated by Bob Krugmire.
Contest Rules:
1. Any dog may enter, as long as they are in costume, and over the age of eight weeks.
2. Dogs must be vaccinated and kept on a leash at all times.
3. One dog per person.
4. Participants will be asked to leave if their dogs display aggressive behaviour.
5. Bring your own doggie bags. Owners must clean up after their dogs!!!
