Get a Healthy Tune Up at PrideFest!
Are you into running, working out and all things healthy?
PrideFest has a place for you. The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center of Colorado will be bringing back its popular Healthy Living Area in Civic Center Park this summer.
This year’s theme is “Get your Tune Up” and will include vendors from a variety of healthy-lifestyle businesses there to offer resources on tuning up your body and mind.
Chiropractors, massage artists, FUZE beverages, Smoke-Free GLBT, Hey Denver and other healthy resources will be among those on hand to provide healthy options for PrideFest participants.
The Healthy Living Area will be open near the Voorhees Memorial Seal Pond and the Colonnade at the north end of Civic Center Park throughout PrideFest, which takes place on Saturday, June 27, from 11a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Healthy Living Area at PrideFest is an extension of The Center’s Healthy Living program, which aims to provide health-care information and resources to the LGBT community.
“Healthy Living is a vital and important program at The Center,” said Christi Stafford, Community Programs Manager at The Center. “The LGBT community can be particularly susceptible to unhealthy choices, and we want to offer them better options.”
The Center’s Healthy Living program works with doctors, hospitals, health care practices and the community to instill greater knowledge of and sensitivity toward the unique health care needs of the LGBT community, Stafford said.
